• ASB really is, in the wise words of Pocohontas, just around the river bend!
  • The second ASB info fair is tomorrow at 7pm in the GSU’s Terrace Lounge on the second floor
  • We are in the final countdown to ASB ONLINE REGISTRATION!
    • Registration is online. The link will be posted at www.bu.edu/csc.  The link can also be found at http://www.bu.edu/csc/programs/asb/index.html.  It should appear by the end of this week in collaboration with the launch of the new CSC website, although it will not become ‘active’ until 8am on the 31st.
    • There will be NO QUESTIONS on the online registration system. Instead, you will be sent a PDF after your trip is confirmed with questions you need to answer.  The sheet and the remainder of the payment will be due by February 12th, 4pm to the CSC.
    • You can register 1 friend to go on the same trip with you! There will be a section where you can add an additional BU ID and name. Your friend will not need to register independently.
    • The price of each trip has increased slightly due to the unexpected rise in cost of vans. Non-flying trips are $325 and flying trips are $675. We apologize for any inconvenience and the late notification.
    • A non-refundable deposit of $150 is due upon registration. All participants in our flying trips are required to pay this deposit, regardless of scholarship application.
    • We have a limited number of scholarships available. They will be given based on your financial need as determined by the University. Due to the limited funds we will not be able to give any one volunteer more than a $200 award.  Scholarship letters are due to the CSC by 4pm, February 1st.

• ASB Registration is coming up on January 31st! Visit the ASB program page for a complete trip list and more information about signing up.
• MAPP is launching a new pilot program this semester. Volunteers will visit a local prison and participate in an inmate book club. For more information, contact Sam and Maria at mapp@bu.edu
• For the first time, VFM is expanding to a second weekly site! The program will be looking for 6-7 volunteers to visit the MLK Middle School one afternoon a week. For more information, contact Deanna at vfm@bu.edu
• Making Music will be looking for 30 more volunteers this semester as their program expands to a new site! This is the first time the program has accepted second-semester volunteers. For more information, contact Kristin at mmusic@bu.edu
• Another Information Session will be held for those interested in Summer Leadership Positions next Thursday, January 21, 7-8 pm in the CGS Lobby. Interested new applicants for FYCO/PA should hand in their applications by 5 pm January 28th. Get your application here!
• SFR will be sending out sign-ups for permanent food runs soon. If you’re not already on their email list, contact sfr@bu.edu to tell them you’re interested
• Wizards, Student Studio, Project Hope, Afterschool, Children’s Theatre and Joining Hands will all be accepting new volunteers this semester. Click on each program to contact that Program Manager.
• The Communications Team is accepting new members who would like to participate in PR, Advertising or Photography efforts of the CSC. For more information, email Andie at bucscpr@gmail.com

Invisible Children and the CSC are encouraging you to participate in the One for One challenge. Donate $1 to make a tremendous difference for a child in Uganda. Stop by the CSC before this Wednesday to donate your dollar and get into the giving spirit!

• Temporary Food Runs are a great chance to get involved with Student Food Rescue for a few hours, and a good way to test the program out without a long commitment. Email sfr@bu.edu for available time slots next week.  Runs have at least two people, and are under a two hour commitment.
• Support Alternative Spring Breaks with an end of the semester meal or drink at Uno’s! This Saturday, December 12th, 20% of each meal with a fundraising ticket will go to the ASB Scholarship Fund, so even more people can go on a trip. Visit the Facebook event page to print out your ticket.
• Donate your school supplies and textbooks to the Delta Supply Drive before December 17th. Drop them off at the CSC, or email bucsc@bu.edu if you’d like someone to pick your supplies up. The drive is especially seeking math supplies. All supplies will be donated in January to children in the Mississippi Delta.
